Nigeria's Decade of Gas initiative is a joint government and private sector effort to use the country's natural gas resources for economic development and energy transition. Nigeria plans to increase gas production and consumption over the decade, with production expected to grow by more than 50%.
The Decade of Gas initiative, launched in 2021, aims to make Nigeria a gas-powered economy by 2030.
It brings government and industry together around five levers:
Towards a gas powered economy by 2030.
Nigeria has over 215.19 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves — a resource that could drive economic growth and job creation.
The Decade of Gas agenda has been backed at the highest levels of government.
